A UNIVERSITY of Brighton town planning graduate has been shortlisted for a national award.
Carol Algar is a finalist in the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Awards for Research Excellence.
This is for her dissertation on the role of planning to support Build to Rent, a new form of housing for the rental sector.
Carol, above, said: “The awards recognise and promote high quality, impactful spatial planning research from RTPI-accredited planning schools and consultancies both in the UK and internationally.
“My dissertation has been selected from 22 entries and I am delighted to have been shortlisted – this is added reward for all the hard work I undertook last year.”
Andrew Coleman, senior lecturer and course leader in the university’s School of Architecture and Design, said: “We are extremely pleased that Carol has made the shortlist for this prestigious award.
“Her dissertation was a fantastic example of a student researching a subject at the cutting edge of planning practice and policy and her findings have the potential to influence how planners deal with a new form of housing in England.”
