HE is probably best known for playing a serial killer in Coronation Street in the early 2000s.

Brian Capron, actor and rapper, who is now in his seventies, first came to public attention through his role of teacher Mr Stuart Hopwood in Grange Hill in the 1980s.

He was also in EastEnders, playing Jerry McKenzie for a year in the 90s, but it was his role as Coronation Street’s Richard Hillman which most people will know him for.

He features in our TimeOut pictures today in his younger days.

Our main image shows him presenting a cheque for a cell saver machine in Brighton in 1986.

Brian is also pictured here with a group of young Grange Hill fans and, top, .

with Brighton activist Jean Calder and a girl named Ellen Cook in December 1987.

Then he and Christopher Biggins are pictured kissing the winner of Miss In String at the Pink Coconut Nightclub in West Street, Brighton, in 1984.

At the top of the page Brian, who still lives in the city, is raising a glass with Hazel Evans, Dave Rimmer and Sue Boswood in 1985 at the Pink Coconut Nightclub’s second birthday party.

Entrants for the Miss Brighton Competition are pictured getting themselves ready by applying makeup in the toilets at the nightclub in June 1987.

The Pink Coconut later went through many name changes including Paradox, Creation, Tru, Project and Hedkandi.
