TWO burglars were eventually stopped after breaking into a restaurant, a golf club, and a school.

Police received a report from officers in neighbouring Hampshire about a white Ford Fiesta travelling on the A27 at Lancing in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A duo had reportedly broken into the Toby Carvery in Upper Brighton Road in Worthing at 3.15am. Police saw two suspects with covered faces leaving the scene.

Then the alarm at the Hill Barn Golf Club went off at 4.30am, officers attended but the suspects had gone.

Finally at 5.10am the alarm went off at Worthing College, and men were seen returning to the vehicle.

But police had already spiked the tyres to stop it leaving the scene.

The police helicopter had been scrambled to help catch the suspects during the “fast-paced” incident.

Meanwhile, police sniffer dogs were also sent to help in the search.

A 31-year-old man from Bordon in Hampshire, and a 17-year-old boy from Bordon were both arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Both men remained in custody as The Argus went to print, and the investigation continues.
