THE 2018 Lindfield Arts Festival is being held between September 21-23.

There are 140 creative events taking place.

These include an extreme cake installation with Channel 4, Royal Shakespeare Company production, comedy from an ex-Coronation Street actor, opera singing, ballroom dancing, scarecrow trail.

This will be the ninth annual Lindfield Arts Festival and organisers say it will be the biggest yet.

It provides a platform for upcoming, performing artists whilst offering the community the chance to join in, show off their talents and celebrate the unique spirit of Mid Sussex culture.

The festival kicks off on the evening of Friday September 21 with a ‘Rockaoke’ band night at the King Edward Hall.

You can sing along to the live band and be the rock star you always dreamed of, while pubs across the village host a variety of entertainments.

Lindfield High Street will be closed to traffic on the Saturday.

There is a day of fun with fresh food stalls and plenty of seating to watch performances by local dance and drama students.

Bands will play all day culminating in an evening performance of jazz interpretations by FoxiVox! at the King Edward Hall.

Tickets for this are now on sale.

Hilary Knight, project manager of the Lindfield Arts Festival, said: “If experimenting with creative art, learning the didgeridoo, perfecting your circus skills, indulging your spray painting techniques or learning to sing like an opera diva piques your interest, then you are in for a treat.

“This year’s festival is our biggest ever and there are many workshops for old and young to join.

“Most of the events are free to take part in this year but we strongly recommend advance booking as spaces may be limited and we are sure that there will be something for everyone!”

Amongst the extensive programme of events, there will be an art trail including open studios and a display in the Primary Academy, craft show, and live art on cellograff – graffiti which is sprayed onto clear cellophane.

These will take place on the High Street alongside some meaningful drama productions addressing memory and culinary delights.

The Playground of Illusions offers children the chance to explore giant interactive installations on the Common.
