LEWES District Council has fined a man £400 for illegally dumping waste at Housedean, near Falmer.
The council’s Neighbourhood First team were alerted to the waste that had been left on the slip road near the bridge over the A27 at Housedean at the end of last month.
They managed to track some of the items back to a garage in Saltdean that had employed a clearance company to remove the waste.
A worker from the waste company admitted the fly-tipping and was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £400.
Councillor Paul Franklin, Cabinet Member for Waste and Recycling, said: “Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and we take it extremely seriously.
“We won’t tolerate it and will track offenders down and fine them.”
Anyone with any information on suspected fly-tipping in Lewes district is asked to report it online at www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/fly-tipping
