LEWES District Council’s Neighbourhood First team joined forces with local residents to hold a community event at the De Montfort play area in Lewes.

Called Altogether Now, the aim of the event was to promote the community working together and improve communication between residents and service providers.

Members of the De Montfort Residents Association worked with the Neighbourhood First team to organise fun events for all ages including a football game with local youngsters, face painting, refreshments and even a litter pick of the area.

Councillor Johnny Denis, Vice-Chair of Lewes District Council, who attended the event, said: “It was great to see everyone come together for a real community event. Plans are already underway for the next one!”

Andi Mindel, of the De Montfort Residents Association, said: “Seeing the young people living here litter-picking with the Neighbourhood First team, and taking pride in their environment was the highlight of the event for the DeMontfort Resident’s Association.

“We look forward to future events where social responsibility is made fun!”
