A SECOND-HAND retailer helped to reunite a talented photographer with his camera which was stolen at Pride.

Joseth Carter had been out snapping events across Brighton between Friday, August 3 and Sunday, August 5.

But thieves took his camera kit from him while he was on a break.

The kit was taken into the Cash Converters store in London Road in Brighton, where thieves tried to make a quick buck.

But because Mr Carter had reported the items as stolen, they showed up on security checks made by staff.

So store manager Matthew Seekings called the police, who were able to track down Mr Carter, who has become a renowned rock music photographer.

He has toured with the group Royal Blood during their 2017 arena tour, and is also a videographer. He also shot the scenes for the band’s album How Did We Get So Dark?

Fans of the band say the Brighton snapper captured some “killer shots” that were “gold”.

His other clients include indie band High Tyde, French house DJ Cedric Gervais and corporate brands like Warner Bros.

After getting his kit back last week, he said: “I am truly grateful to the Cash Converters team and for the time and steps they took to help recover these items.

“The items hold a lot of value to me, so I cannot thank them enough. They have restored my faith in humanity.”

Cash Converters say all items brought in have to pass “rigorous” security checks to make sure they are not stolen, so theft or burglary victims should always report crimes to the police.

London Road store manager Matthew Seekings said: “We were so pleased that we were able to play a part in reuniting Joeseth with the equipment he relies on for his livelihood.

“Security is important to us, we perform stringent checks on the items that come in, day in and day out. It makes it all the more worth it when something like this happens.”

The police confirmed the kit has been returned to Mr Carter, and said there is an ongoing investigation into the theft.
