A WOMAN is opening a pop-up maternity clothes shop to help expectant mothers regain their sense of style and body confidence.

Hayley Blundy, 35, hopes Bump 2 Bump Club will also give women the chance to make new friends.

Hayley, from Hove, has two children, Austin, three, and Lola, one.

She said: “The idea came about during my first pregnancy, when I felt guilty all the time for not appreciating my growing and changing shape.

“Being only 4ft 11in, I received a lot of unwelcome comments about how big I had got and was frequently asked if I was sure I wasn’t having twins and should I really be out and about. It made me feel nervous, judged and vulnerable.

“Fast forward to my second pregnancy where I grew even larger than the first time and had a great deal of water retention and swelling.

“After my daughter was born, I suffered with postnatal stress and anxiety which manifested itself in low self esteem and I realise now, on reflection, that I had been feeling this way long before she arrived.”

Hayley joined a postnatal depression support group and hopes she can help and support people who feel the same as she did.

She said: “I wanted to create a high street shopping experience dedicated to mums-to-be and offer an alternative way of making friendships.

“I have more than 300 items of new and pre-loved clothing available from Seraphine, Isabella Oliver, Jo Jo Maman Bebe, Topshop, Gap, Next, New Look, ASOS and H&M, probably the largest variety of maternity wear in Brighton and Hove.”

Hayley hosts her first pop-up at The Villas, Clarendon Villas, Hove today from 9.30am to 11.30am.
