Black Honey

The Hope and Ruin, Brighton, Friday, September 7

BRIGHTON band Black Honey brought it home – and the house down – with their intimate gig at the Hope and Ruin on Friday night.

Playing as part of Red Stripe presents: This Feeling TV, the band put on a loud and energetic performance and even welcomed a group of stage crashers at the end.

This Feeling TV is an online show highlighting new and upcoming talent from across the UK.

In collaboration with Red Stripe, the beer-fuelled gig was being filmed and only had a crowd of about 30.

Despite the small scale, the crowd was electric, which could also be down to the free beer.

This Feeling TV have interviewed a variety of big names including The Vaccines, Stereophonics and Shaun Ryder.

Promoting new and also well established bands, there is a mix of live performances and interviews on their YouTube channel.

The support acts included other Brighton band Lacuna Bloome, bringing their own style of dirty surf rock, though lacked the same pzazz as the second support.

Talking of who, Welsh band Trampoline were the main supports, really getting the crowd going. They even ended up doing an extra song or two.

Forming in 2014, Black Honey have had a blossoming career already that has taken them across the world.

Their indie-rock songs attracted a big crowd within the indie scene and it took off from there, being picked up by the likes of Annie Mac and Huw Stephens.

Blending Lana Del Ray style vocals with scuzzy, surf-rock style guitar, this band has a sound that can simultaneously take you back to the Seventies and into the future.

You can check out This Feeling TV across social media and on YouTube, and Black Honey are doing an album signing tour across the UK or you can catch them at Concorde 2 in October.
