INDIE rockers The Kooks played an intimate show on Monday.
The four piece first met in Croydon but formed officially in Brighton in 2004.
The group rocked the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Monday night in support of their new album Let’s Go Sunshine.
A mix of old and new songs, with plenty of sing-along moments, greeted the them as the rapturous home crowd gave them a heroes welcome.
Speaking of their new album, lead singer Luke Pritchard said: “We all just wanted to make a real band record, go against the grain.
“If you were to switch on the radio you’d see that guitar music isn’t as popular with a lot of people, they’re trying to tell you which way to go, but we wanted to make a bit of a stand.”
He thanked the Brighton crowd for their support –although some of the group no longer live in the city they still consider it their home.
Luke said: “I don’t live in Brighton any more but we have roots in Brighton.
“I think Brighton is a really special city and I get these waves of memories from it.
“Because we’re thought of as a Brighton band it is always a little more special when we plays shows here.”
The Kooks new album Let’s Go Sunshine is out now via Lonely Cat.
