Mark Godfrey has been jailed for historic sex offences against a child in Eastbourne
AN UNEMPLOYED paedophile has been jailed for historic sex offences against a young girl.
Mark Godfrey was found guilty of four counts of indecent assault against the girl when he lived in Eastbourne between 16 and 22 years ago.
The 55-year-old carried out his attacks on a girl when she was aged between five and 13, up to 2002.
He was sentenced to nine years in prison and will be a registered sex offender for life.
Detective Constable Emma Penrose-Reed said Godfrey, of Alderue Avenue in Manchester, took advantage of the girl’s vulnerability.
He will also be the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
