ANTHONY Wall, editor of BBC TV’s multi-award-winning arts strand Arena, will be the special guest tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm of Seaford Community Cinema.

He will be at the Barn Theatre to introduce Nothing Like a Dame (12A), starring Dames Eileen Atkins, Judy Dench, Joan Plowright and Maggie Smith who let director Roger Michell record a friendship that goes back more than half a century.

It was made originally for Arena and then given a limited cinema release.

The film treats us to rarely seen archive footage as the four great women of stage and screen are pictured discussing key moments and talking about their humble beginnings in the theatre in careers that saw Dench and Plowright each win an Oscar and Smith gain two, with multiple Bafta nominations between them.

The chat takes place mainly in the garden of the country home near Steyning that Plowright shared with her late husband, Sir Laurence Olivier while he was director of Chichester Festival Theatre.
