THE winners and runners-up in Newhaven Town Council’s 2018 Best of Newhaven Photographic Competition received their prizes from the Mayor, Councillor Paul Boswell at a prizegiving at Meeching Hall.
The overall winner was Martin Sinnock with this gorgeous photo of the sunset over Newhaven Fort.
This is the third year the competition has been held and it was more popular than ever, with 32 people entering and submitting a total of 101 photos between them.
There were ten categories and people could enter any or all of the categories, but could only submit one photo for each category.
The judging panel was not allowed to know who had submitted any of the photos.
The overall winning photograph won £100; the category winning photographs won £40 and the runner up photographs in each category won £20.
Several people won more than one prize.
The money for the prizes was kindly provided by sponsors who are:

The winning and runner up photos will appear on banners on Riverside in October.
All the photos submitted for the competition will also be on display at Newhaven Library from Monday 17 September for a couple of weeks.
The town council was delighted with the number of entries and also the quality.
