A WORTHING bar will remain open after Worthing Borough Council’s licensing committee agreed to revised conditions around the operation of the venue.

Councillors revoked the licence to the Molotov Cocktail and Vodka Bar in September 2017 after a case was brought forward by Sussex Police following crime and disorder and public safety concerns.

The decision was appealed by its owners which meant the venue in Chatsworth Road has been allowed to continue trading until this was heard.

After numerous meetings between representatives of both parties, the council’s licensing committee agreed to a mediated resolution.

Key to the agreement is an acknowledgement that “there is working relationship between the police and the premises licence holder and trust this will continue”.

Councillor Paul High, chairman of Worthing Borough Council’s licensing committee, said: “This has been a complex and long-running case at a high-profile venue so I am pleased that both parties have come to an agreement which will support our aims of creating a vibrant local night-time economy while maintaining public safety for all.”

In August 2017, we reported that police were trying to shut down the bar where a mother spent hours drinking before she fell down steps and died.

Beauty school owner Gina Pickett was found lying in the street with fatal head injuries at around 1am on February 20, 2017.

The 45-year-old mother of two young children was seen going into the Molotov Cocktail Bar at around 8pm the night before. She spent hours drinking there before walking out into the street alone, police documents said.
