CHRIS EUBANK Jr has fuelled speculation he could be on course for a showdown with James DeGale after revealing he has lined up something “tasty” for the end of the year.

The Brighton fighter returns to the ring against Irishman JJ McDonagh on the World Boxing Super Series final undercard next Friday.

DeGale, 32, has also announced a tune-up fight and will appear on the undercard of Victor Ortiz v John Molina Jr on September 30.

He promised fans on social media he would have "something nice and juicy for you in December" in a post on Twitter.

DeGale relinquished his IBF world title in July confirming he only wanted to chase "massive" fights in the final stages of his career.

Former Olympic gold medal winner DeGale has previously told The Argus he felt destined to fight Eubank Jr at some stage in his career and the prospect appears to be drawing closer.

Eubank Jr believes McDonagh will be an ideal comeback test after a seven-month lay-off but although he would not be drawn on rumours of a match-up with DeGale, he did tease something big was on the horizon.

Eubank Jr said: “There are some very tasty options out there.

"We were already lining things up (before this fight) and I am sure there will be an announcement in the next few weeks.”

He added: "I shouldn't really say it's a tune-up fight (McDonagh).

"I don't have that mentality and I always train to the best of my ability and like it is a world title fight.

"But he is not proven at world class level so that's why I think it is a good fight to have after this lay-off, just to get me back in the ring, get the ring rust off and then look for a very big fight at the end of the year."
