A pensioner has died when a car crashed into a tree.
Emergency services were called after the fatal crash at the Black Down roundabout on the A22 at Maresfield near Uckfield at 2.50am on Saturday.
It was reported that a silver Honda Civic crashed into the tree.
The driver, a man in his 80s, and a passenger, a man in his 40s, suffered "serious" injuries and were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where they remain in a stable condition.
But a second passenger, a woman in her 70s, died at the scene.
Her family have been informed, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
Information can be reported on the Sussex Police website or by calling 101 and quoting Operation Forres.
