A NEW Deputy Chief Constable has been appointed.

Jo Shiner says she is "delighted and humbled" to be joining Sussex Police in the role.

She will leave her post with Kent Police at the end of the year, where she has been responsible for the Central Operations Directorate for the past four years.

During her career she has also gained experience in tactical and strategic firearms, and has been a critical incident commander for nearly 15 years.

She started at Norfolk Constabulary in 1993, and has held roles in uniform policing, CID, public protection, corporate development, and specialist operations.

The move will see her replace Bernie O'Reilly, who is set to join the College of Policing.

She said: "I am delighted and humbled to be offered the position, and I look forward to working with everyone."

Chief Constable Giles York said: “Jo will be a real asset to the force, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of local policing at a time when we are strengthening our teams and transforming policing."
