JOE Sugg was the surprise star of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night as the celebrities performed their first competitive dance of the BBC series.
Joe and his partner Dianne Buswell wowed – and surprised – the audience with an energetic jive to Take On Me by A-Ha.
In the audience to support him were his sister, fellow YouTuber Zoella, and her boyfriend Alfie Deyes, who lives in Brighton.
Also impressive was fellow Brighton resident Stacey Dooley. The documentary-maker is already tipped as a potential glitterball winner after she and partner Kevin Clifton performed a high-scoring quickstep.
Not quite so nimble was Sussex’s Susannah Constantine. She and partner Anton du Beke managed to score only 12 out of 40 for their samba and many fear she has already been dismissed as this year’s “joke” act.
