Repairs to a hole in the road in Orpington have been sectioned off once again amid reports it is "unsafe."

The hole, which appeared on Crofton Lane two weeks ago, was discovered while Thames Water engineers were carrying out repairs in the area.

Part of Crofton Lane was closed off while the hole was fixed, causing traffic delays and bus diversions.

Now, reports suggest the part of the road has been sectioned off once again while the fixed hole is assessed.

Some drivers in the area had suggested the filled hole had started to sink again which is why it needed to be refilled.

A spokeswoman for ThamesWater said: "We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused while we checked the hole wasn’t caused by a problem with one of our pipes.

"Our engineers have confirmed there are no issues to our network, and we’re now resurfacing the road which we expect to be completed by Thursday."
