IT IS fair to say that most of us have to cut our cloth accordingly when it comes to finding somewhere to live.

Renting, as we already know, can be prohibitively expensive in the city and house prices are rocketing, especially in the most desirable areas.

Those hoping to get themselves on the housing ladder are also finding it increasingly difficult to do so.

Sadly, an increasing number are also finding themselves with no option other than to use temporary accommodation or sleep on the streets.

Council housing is also at a premium and when private properties come up for rent they are inevitably snapped up within hours of being advertised.

At the opposite end of the scale some of the properties in our county which are put up for sale are absolutely stunning. The Argus today features two such properties, one situated near Worthing and the other in Hove.

Both are on the market for an eye-watering £2.8 million but let’s be honest, if we could afford it, both would be near the top of any wish list.

It is difficult not to dream when you see such properties, especially when they include all the mod cons you can dream of such as swimming pools and games rooms.

Naturally, they remain out of the reach of most of us, barring winning the National Lottery jackpot. But it is interesting to see how those with the means live and good luck to them.

However, what cannot be ignored is that for many having a roof over their heads is not a luxury, it is a necessity and some in our city don’t even have that.
