A MAN was stabbed, punched and kicked on the night England were knocked out of the World Cup by Croatia.

Police were called to the incident in Sorrel Drive in Eastbourne at 10.45pm on Wednesday, July 11.

They have appealed for information to track down 46-year-old Paul Edge, who they want to interview in connection with the knife attack.

A 26-year-old man was injured during the incident.

Mr Edge, of Downland Close in Eastbourne, is believed to have left the town but may have now returned.

He is white, 5ft 8ins and stocky.

The public have been warned not to approach him if he is seen.

Detective Constable Elliott Lander said: “We believe Edge left town after the incident, but may now be in the area again.

“If you see Edge, do not approach him and dial 999 at once."

Two other men were arrested in connection with the incident, including a 20-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder, and a 48-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The detective said that while the offence occurred on the night that England were defeated, the incident itself was not linked to the football.
