A FIRE that was started on purpose damaged two houses and destroyed two cars.

Arsonists torched one car in Tintern Road, Crawley, at about 9.30pm on Friday.

The flames quickly spread to another vehicle, before burning the windows and guttering of two nearby homes.

The cars, which were burnt out, were empty and nobody was hurt.

Police investigator Sean Tucker said: "The initial fire was caused deliberately."
