Fliss Gibbons has backed Albion to break their WSL duck.

But the left-back has admitted it might take a bit more composure in the final third as they look to really get their top-flight season up and running.

Albion go to Everton yet to put a goal or a point on the board after moving up to the fully professional big league.

They have suffered 1-0 reverses to Bristol City, Birmingham and Liverpool before going down 2-0 at champions Chelsea ahead of the international break.

Gibbons says spirits are still high and that the breakthrough moment might not be far away.

She said: “We have come off a few defeats and it would be easy for us to be sulking a bit and getting our heads down.

“But I think the mood in the camp is still pretty positive. That is coming from the coaches as well.

“I know Hope (Powell, manager) has said she has been pleased with our last few performances.

“Although it hasn’t quite fallen for us yet, we are confident we are going to clock up our first win soon.

“I think everyone is just that bit more hungry knowing we have probably been quite hard done by in our last few matches.

“We have almost got a bit more hunger in our bellies now because we need to go out and get a win.”

Albion have not created a wealth of chances but those they have fashioned have tended to be very good ones.

Gibbons has her own thoughts on why the goals have not yet come.

She said: “It’s a step up in the quality that is needed to score in this league.

“We have kept the ball well in games and we have worked hard on being hard to beat.

“That has been a philosophy for us this season.

“In the games we’ve lost, we’ve lost narrowly. We’ve had a couple of 1-0 defeats when we have been unfortunate.

“When we have got in the final third it’s just a little bit of composure and relaxing and take the pressure off ourselves.

“We all know that, especially our attacking players.”

Today's match takes place at Southport (2pm).
