A TEENAGE girl has been arrested after a police officer was attacked.

Police were called to East Worthing railway station at about 10pm last night following reports of multiple youths causing trouble at the station and trespassing on the line.

A 16-year-old girl from Worthing was arrested for assaulting a police officer and possessing class A drugs.

A 16-year-old boy from Lancing was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

British Transport Police are currently investigating the incident and are urging any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said: "Anyone who was at East Worthing station last night and saw what happened is asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40."
