MANY people have suggested that X Factor has had its day yet it returns year after year because would-be stars still have an insatiable desire to make it big.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has made millions out of the show, so it is clear it still works, even though it trails BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing in the reality television stakes by a significant margin.

However, interest will undoubtedly grow now that the judges have selected their acts for the various categories.

With the likes of Robbie Williams and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson having joined the judging panel for the current season, the show does continue evolve.

That is certainly vital if the show is to maintain its spark.

However, its devotees are extremely loyal and the show has broken some who went on to establish themselves as major acts, most notably Leona Lewis and Little Mix, both of whom enjoyed major chart success.

However, on the flip side of the coin does anyone remember the likes of Steve Brookstein, Leon Jackson, or Ben Haenow? Probably not.

This brings us to the much-heralded X Factor nationwide tour, which will be stopping off in Brighton next February.

The live tour invariably proves a success and no doubt fans from the city will turn out in droves to watch the show’s latest finalists in action in the flesh.

Despite the gloom merchants, the X Factor will no doubt survive for the simple reason that its appeal is global, with hopefuls from all over the world hoping to make a winning impression.

Have this year’s finalists got the X Factor? We will soon find out.
