A 'catastrophic' tyre blowout caused major disruption along the A23 and A27 this morning.
Police closed one lane while the car was recovered.
Traffic ground to a halt on the A27 eastbound as cars queued from Patcham through to Falmer.
Delays of 30 minutes were reported.
Officers reported that the car's rear tyre had burst in a 'catastrophic blowout'.
The road was cleared by about 8.30am, according to police.
Lane 1 closed for Broken Down Motor Vehicle (BDMV), A23 s/b just before A27 interchange.
