A HUSBAND and wife team who launched a healthy snack business in 2015 are in Paris to attract new orders from 109 countries across the world.

The Protein Ball Co. was founded by Matt and Hayley Hunt in October 2015 and is based in Worthing.

Now they are in SIAL Paris which has more than 7,000 exhibitors and 155,000 visitors over five days.

The company already exports to 29 countries across the world and is hoping to attract the eye of new buyers from all over the world.

Matt said: “We will be sampling our range of eight protein balls, as well as our brand new Breakfast Balls and will be looking to increase our export presence and build new relationships.

“The health food market is hugely competitive so it’s very important for us to be seen at these shows and to meet new potential buyers face to face.

“Our products are 100 per cent natural with no added sugar and use clean proteins.

“We have a fantastic USP which we hope will resonate with the many influential buyers who attend SIAL Paris.”

Sial Paris starts on Sunday and runs until Thursday.

The Great British Pavilion, which is supported by The Department for International Trade, will feature around 100 food and drink businesses from the UK, including The Protein Ball Co.

Meanwhile, the firm has just passed the BRC accreditation process.

Achieving a grade A, The Protein Ball Co. will now be able to target large national retailers and major supermarkets who all require a food producer to be BRC accredited before they will work with them.

Matt said: “This is a fantastic achievement for us, and we are particularly pleased to have obtained a grade A.”

The British Retail Consortium Global Standard for Food Safety is developed by food industry experts from retailers, manufacturers and food service organisations to ensure it is rigorous and detailed.

It is used by more than 26,000 certificated suppliers over 130 countries, with certification issued through a global network of accredited certification bodies.

Matt said: “A BRC accreditation is practically a pre-requisite to work with the major retailers so this certification really is a game-changer for us and will help us take our brand to the next level.”

Flavours in the company’s range include peanut butter, raspberry brownie, lemon and pistachio, goji and coconut, cacoa and orange, coconut and macadamia and cherry bakewell.

Breakfast balls are available in apple and blueberry, hazelnut and cocao and strawberry and vanilla.
