RESIDENTS will post silhouettes in their windows to remember the war dead as the parish churches in Shoreham stage a new exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
This free exhibition offers a unique insight through words and photos into wartime life, the men who joined the fight for King and Empire and their friends and families who stayed behind.
Every householder, known to live in a town centre property once occupied by a soldier who went off to war, is being offered a window sticker, bearing the image of a soldier’s silhouette, to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The exhibition – When the Guns Fell Silent – runs at:
St Mary de Haura, Shoreham town centre – Saturday, October 20th to Sunday, November 4th.
St Nicolas Church, St Nicolas Lane, Shoreham - Monday, November 5th to Thursday 15th, November.
Church of the Good Shepherd, King’s Walk, Shoreham Beach – Saturday, 17th November to Friday, 30th November.
Launch event - Organisers are delighted to be launching the exhibition with a Shoreham Wordfest event – A Great Calm – at St Mary de Haura on Saturday, October 20th, at 7.30pm combining words and music. For more information, please see www.shorehamwordfest.com
Tickets cost £6 from St. Mary’s Parish Hall office, 1 New Road.
