GAMERS completed a marathon session of playing computer games to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Staff at travel tech business 15below completed the sponsored event at the company’s offices in Queen’s Road in Brighton last month.

They played from 6pm on Friday through to 6pm the next day, with 14 players taking part in a selection including video games, board games, and card games.

It raised £3,500 for mental health charity Mind.

Systems engineer Allen Parish was one of the organisers and said it was “great fun” for everyone, even though they had to stay up for 24 hours.

He said: "This year’s event was great fun, although many people don’t realise how demanding it can be not only to stay awake for 24 hours, but to concentrate on computer games, card games and board games for the duration.

"I am extremely proud of everyone who took part and very grateful to everybody who donated and helped us smash our £2,000 target."
