AN ARSONIST who tried to set fire to his neighbours flat has been sent to prison following a review of his sentence.
Lee Batchelor used a bottle of white spirit to start the blaze in Lewes, after he grew upset about noise.
The fire alarm went off, and the neighbour was able to help her friends escape while the fire was put out.
He was arrested and charged, and a Lewes Crown Court he was given a two-year suspended prison sentence in August.
Alongside this, the 40-year-old was told to complete rehabilitation, unpaid work, and pay £500 compensation to the Housing Association.
But the Solicitor General Robert Buckland QC MP referred it to the Court of Appeal as being “unduly lenient”.
Last week, the Court of Appeal decided to sentence him to three years and two months in prison.
