MORE than 60 people glided up the i360 for a meditation session to relax and #BeMoreSnail.

It was a perfect day for the relaxation morning Friday as participants were surrounded by panoramic views of the city under a pristine sky. More than £600 were donated to Martlets, which launched the popular Snailspace along with software company Brandwatch.

The charity encourages us to take things slowly and to live in the moment. Imelda Glackin, chief executive of Martlets, said: “The meditation was really magical because I felt I was living in the moment.

“You realise how important it is to value and appreciate where you are.

“The meditation was simply beautiful because we were surrounded by the glistening sun and the sea. I felt so lucky to be alive and to enjoy what was around me.

“We work with patients who don’t know what will happen in five minutes. What we need to remember is if you want to do something, do it now because you never know what’s going to happen.”

Samantha Reis, a researcher at Brandwatch who led the meditation, said: “It was the perfect day to run the meditation session. We have such busy lives and jobs, and we sometimes forget to slow down.

“To have more than 60 people practising together was a really powerful thing because we were sharing and spreading positive energy.

“I’ve been doing meditation five years, I also lead meditation sessions for Brandwatch staff. If you can find ten minutes in a day to do it, it is very beneficial for you.

“Find and channel your inner light because you will find calmness and peace.”

A participant, Laura Walker, 44, said: “I thought it was a lovely idea and to run a session on the i360 was just brilliant.

“I’ve been doing meditation for six months and it’s so beneficial.

“We always talk about mental health awareness so it’s vital to take some time out for yourself.”

On the same day last Friday Fatboy Slim walked around the city in a marathon effort to promote Snailspace and raise money for Martlets.
