A BURGLAR broke into a home and stole jewellery worth thousands of pounds.

The intruder got inside the house in New Heritage Lane in the village of North Chailey near Haywards Heath during the day on October 12.

Now police say they want to speak to a man in connection with the burglary, and have issued CCTV images.

They say a man with a distinctive tattoo on his forearm was seen on camera walking around the road, before getting into a modern five-door hatchback style car.

PC Tom Bowen said: “We are keen to trace the man and the car in connection with this burglary where a significant amount of jewellery was stolen while the householders were out.

“If you recognise the man or the vehicle please get in touch with us.”

The man is described as having short blond hair, and was wearing a grey polo shirt and grey jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote reference serial 983 of 12/10.
