POLICE have arrested a suspect in connection with a spate of armed robberies.

Officers linked four incidents where a man targeted supermarkets in Rottingdean, Henfield, and two in Hove in the past month.

The Argus reported the first incident, where a robber was captured on video vaulting over the counter at One Stop in Nevill Road in Hove on September 23.

It was filmed by a passer-by in the car park, who saw the robber rifling through the till while terrified store staff looked on.

The second robbery was at the Tesco Express in West Street in Rottingdean on October 2, followed by the One Stop in Henfield High Street on October 13, and the Tesco Express at The Droveway in Hove on October 15.

Detective Inspector Cath O’Connor said a 52-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of the offences.

He has been bailed until November 14 while the investigation continues.

Detective Insp O'Connor said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any of these incidents or has any information about them.

"We are offering a £500 reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever is responsible.”
