A person died after being hit by a train near a village railway station.

Police and paramedics were called to Littlehaven station between Three Bridges and Horsham at 2.30pm today.

The person has not yet been formally identified, police have said.

Passengers have been warned to expect delays on all lines between the two stations which have been closed while an investigation is done.

Southern Rail says some trains are being diverted via Dorking where possible.

Meanwhile Thameslink services are terminating at Horsham and starting again at Three Bridges.

The disruption is expected to continue until 6pm, and passengers have been advised to travel when the lines reopen.
