BAKER Phil Turner is a boss with a taste for success.

He is the managing director of Turner’s Pies, which has four shops in West Sussex.

They are situated in Worthing, Bognor Regis, Chichester and Rustington.

Now the award-winning baker has had the stamp of approval for his handmade pies thanks to a new delivery service.

He came up with the idea after scooping a prestigious national award.

Turner’s Pies beat off stiff competition from 950 of the country’s leading pie-makers earlier this year to win the supreme champion accolade with their steak and ale pie.

Now customers are ordering their savoury food to be sent to them by Turner’s Pies By Post service.

Phil said: “I am delighted with the response from customers.

“I’ve been been pleasantly surprised by the demand from all corners of the country.

“The concept came about when we realised just how far some of our customers were travelling to stock up on our pies.

“What if we could save them the hassle of a long journey, and deliver their favourite pies

“Well, we have developed the service and it is a huge success.

“We’re dispatching pies across mainland UK from Inverness to Ilfracombe, and beyond.

“The Pies By Post service is a natural progression for our business given that we know demand is there in spite of the geographical position of the core of our set-up.

“The feedback is encouraging with more than a few customers telling us it is ‘first class.’

“That said, we are listening to the pie-lovers of our region, too, and have recently opened a new shop in Worthing.

“This means we now have four outlets across West Sussex.”

All new customers benefit from free delivery with their first order and there is also a ten per cent discount on all orders if they sign up to a Turner’s Pies mailing list.

Once orders are received, they are freshly baked and sent via overnight courier.

Phil is a third-generation baker at the business which was founded in 1933.

He says that a few simple steps ensure you get the most out of your pie.

He said: “Our pies are delicious served hot or cold.

“You can reheat the individual pies in just 25 minutes at 180°C/160°C fan/350°F gas mark 4 or the large pies for 35 minutes.

“The pies will arrive in a temperature-controlled box.

“They need to be placed in the fridge or freezer on arrival.

“They arrive with a five-day shelf life and can be frozen for up to six months.”
