POLICE are searching for a driver on the run after they smashed their car into a shop wall.
Around midnight yesterday (6 November), police were called after a BMW M3 crashed into the wall of Co-Op in High Street, Horam, causing the front of the building to crumble.
No injuries have been reported, but the fence in front of the shop had been mowed down and serious damage was made to the front windows and walls.
Mike Wilding, who works next door to the Co-Op at Trust Vehicle Services, said: “The damage is significant.
“They must have been driving the vehicle at a fair speed to have been able to partially demolish the front of the building.
“I’m sure it was a moment of recklessness.
“The neighbours who live opposite the Co-Op said they heard a loud bang last night when this must have happened but they thought it was fireworks”.
A police spokesman said: "Shortly before midnight on Tuesday (6 November), police were called after an orange BMW M3 crashed into the wall of Co-Op in High Street, Horam.
"The driver decamped from the vehicle and officers carried out a search of the area but there was no trace.
"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver."
