A TRESSPASSER on the line has caused rail disruption between Lewes and Seaford.
Services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed until 9pm.
At 5.20pm Southern Railway tweeted: “We’re unable to serve Southease, Newhaven Town, Newhaven Harbour, Bishopstone or Seaford.
“Brighton and Hove Buses are accepting tickets between Brighton, Seaford and Eastbourne.
“If you are travelling from London to Newhaven Town, Bishopstone or Seaford, you are advised to travel to Brighton and board a Brighton and Hove bus instead.”
The power to the Seaford line has been switched off, bringing trains in the area to a standstill.
Network Rail response staff and the British Transport Police were on site to escort the trespasser safely away from the railway track.
Just after 7pm, Southern Railway announced on its Twitter saying the incident is cleared.
