YOU want it all from your Porsche 718 Cayman? Now you can have it.

The GTS version of this adorable sports car brings to the track and road a delicious blend of extra power, more aggressive look and tweaks that squeeze every last drop of enjoyment for your pleasure.

For starters, the output of the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder flat ‘boxer’ engine has been increased by 15hp over the Cayman S to 365hp, courtesy of a new intake system and an optimised turbocharger.

With that sort of heartbeat, you can expect a full-blooded experience behind the wheel, and you get one.

But before we get there, let’s just stand back and admire the beautiful lines, curves and bulges that make the Cayman such an impressive beast to behold.

The GTS rides on delicious satin black 20-inch wheels, but the optional Porsche ceramic composite brakes fitted on my test car come in at a whopping £5,177.

It also gets adaptive dampers and the Sport Chrono package with dynamic transmission mounts as standard.

It’s your choice between the manual six-speed gearbox or double-clutch transmission available as an option. This will be a very personal thing, and I will not presume to point you in one direction or the other. I can only vouch for the manual transmission, which is excellent.

It’s hang-on-to-your hat time when you fully exploit the speed capability. When combined with the PDK and Launch Control function of the Sport Chrono package, the GTS can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 4.1 seconds. The top speed is 180mph.

In keeping with the traditional dynamic emphasis of Porsche GTS models, standard equipment includes a mechanical rear axle limited slip differential and Porsche Active Suspension Management, which lowers the body by ten millimetres.

The GTS stands out among the 718 range not only in terms of its dynamic technology, but also its styling. The new front apron hints at its sporting character. As is typical for GTS models, the front light modules and the Bi-Xenon headlights are black-tinted.

At the rear, the tinted tail lights, black logos, black apron and centrally positioned black tailpipes of the standard sports exhaust system give the GTS a unique appearance. Black GTS logos at the base of the doors provider an eye-catching side profile alongside the wheels.

The taut proportions, prominent air intakes at the front and sides and sweeping profile underscore the boost in dynamics. The nose has a much sharper profile, which gives the front end a wider and more purposeful appearance.

Rounding off the front end of the 718 Cayman are the significantly larger cooling air intakes and Bi-Xenon headlights in a new design with integrated LED daytime running lights. LED headlights with four-point daytime running lights are available as a new option.

Viewed from the side, the new coupé reveals its striking sculptured wheel-arches and side sills.

The re-designed rear also has a much wider appearance, emphasised by a high-gloss black strip with integrated Porsche badge between the tail lights Time for a peek inside then, where the interior ambience also picks up the GTS genes.

The stopwatch of the Sport Chrono package is integrated as a central component of the fascia. The seats feature Alcantara centres, as is customary in a GTS model. The sports seats with GTS logos on the headrests can be electronically adjusted in two ways and provide increased lateral support and comfort.

In addition, the interior features a high proportion of Alcantara, including on the steering wheel trim, centre console and armrests.

Furthermore, drivers with a passion for sports driving are assisted by the Porsche Track Precision App, which enables the driver to automatically record, display and analyse driving data on their smartphone.

The fourth generation of the mid-engined, two-seater sports once again sets the class benchmark for driving performance.

It is both agile and responsive, rewarding the driver with thrusts of speed and a soundtrack to match its performance. The steering has been configured to be ten per cent more direct, and there’s more cornering grip through the slightly wider rear wheels.

The Sport Chrono package can be adjusted via the mode switch on the steering wheel. Supplementing the previous settings of 'Normal', 'Sport' and 'Sport Plus' is the 'Individual' programme, which is able to call up previously programmed individual settings for various systems.

You will be one lucky individual to find yourself tucked behind the wheel of this awesome car.
