THESE newly-released pictures show early designs for the next phases of development at Brighton Marina.

The designs are currently on display at the Malmaison Hotel at the marina as a two-day public exhibition continues today.

The images show revised plans for Phases 2 and 3 of the Outer Harbour Development, which includes 950 apartments. A tower included in previous plans has been reduced in height from 40 storeys to 28.

The new plans to replace the existing planning consent for the south-western part of Brighton Marina have been drawn up by award-winning architects Squire & Partners, who were appointed by developers ICG Longbow and Brighton Marina Group.

They promise high-quality, new private and affordable homes in a scheme they say “better connects with Brighton and Hove and enhances the marina as a whole”.

The original plans for 853 flats and retail, commercial and community spaces, which included 11 buildings ranging from six to 40 storeys high, were granted planning permission in 2006. The first phase of almost 200 flats and seven restaurants was completed in 2016.

The drop-in exhibition for the public to view the designs, meet the design team and share their views is at Malmaison Hotel from 1pm to 5pm today.
