Two men suffered serious injuries after fight broke out near a cinema.

Police were called after reports of the brawl involving up to six people near Scott Cinemas in The Atrium in East Grinstead at 5.30pm.

Officers arrived within minutes, but the suspects had already fled.

There were unconfirmed reports that the two men were stabbed, and police say their injuries were "possibly caused by a weapon".

A police spokesman said: "Just before 5.30pm on Saturday, November 10, officers were notified of a report of a fight involving six people near Scott Cinemas in The Atrium, East Grinstead.

"Police arrived on the scene very promptly, but the suspects had already left the scene.

"Two men were treated for injuries, possibly caused by a weapon. These injuries were considered serious, but not life-threatening.

"This is believed to have been an isolated incident, and not considered as a risk to the wider public. Officers from the investigations department have been deployed and will look to identify the suspects. "Anyone who witnessed the fight is asked to contact us."
