CAMPAIGNERS fighting plans to expand Gatwick Airport will be urging people to join their cause at a public consultation event today.

Members of the group Communities Against Gatwick Noise and Emissions will be outside Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.

They say expanding the airport will increase noise with up to 85,000 extra flights a year.

They argue transport links will not be able to cope with the extra demand.

Airport bosses published a draft masterplan for ongoing development and growth of the airport earlier this year.

They launched a public consultation which runs until January 10.

They said: “Come along to our public exhibition where representatives from Gatwick will be available to provide more information and receive your feedback.”

The next consultation event will be at County Mall shopping centre, Crawley, on Saturday from 11am to 5pm.
