A MAJOR search was launched on Brighton seafront this morning for a missing man.
The Coastguard helicopter and two RNLI lifeboats were called into action at 5.50am to reports a man had entered the water.
At around 8.15am the search and rescue teams were called to stop the search after the man was found safe and well at home.
The Coastguard helicopter was seen flying low over the seafront between Palace Pier and the i360 observation tower throughout the morning.
Two RNLI lifeboats and a Coastguard vessel were also involved in the search.
One witness said they had seen rescuers searching under the pier.
Twitter user Oliver Button posted this report: "Large scale search and rescue operation currently happening along Brighton seafront after reports of a person entering the water.
"Brighton & Shoreham lifeboats, HM coastguard heli and shoreline coastguard teams all searching."
