CBEEBIES presenter Sid Sloane will switch on Brighton’s Christmas lights tonight.

He will be joined by 15-year-old Jake Heal, who raised more than £4,000 for the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity by taking part in its i360 “iDrop Abseil”.

Jake, from Hove, has

Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which causes a wide range of physical symptoms, learning difficulties and behavioural problems.

To thank him for his efforts, Jake has been invited to join Rockinghorse trustee Sid and – of course – Father Christmas to flick the switch in East Street.

The event is being hosted by Brilliant Brighton, an organisation which helps improve the city for shoppers and businesses.

The fun kicks off in East Street at 4.30pm.

There is a line-up of entertainment planned.

Acts include vintage-

inspired swing group Hit The Silk.

There will be rousing a cappella by the Actually Gay Men’s Chorus and Brighton buskers Ren and Sam Tompkins will also perform.

Seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter Jack Rose, who has just finished supporting Faith Evans on her UK tour and is the host of Amazon TV series Ghost Hunting With Jack Rose, will also be taking to the stage.

The teenager will perform his new single Birthday Cake.

The lights will illuminate the city until early January.

Brilliant Brighton is formed of 517 businesses which together pay £75,000 a year to ensure the city is lit up for the festive season.
