A CHARITY fears Brighton may have its own “animal hunter” after the attempted disembowelling of two cats.

SNARL - which is investigating the M25 Cat Killer - says two cats have been attacked within one mile of each other.

It thinks the attacker may be local.

Founder Boudicca Rising said: “Somebody is out there hunting animals.

“This is not linked to our investigations but we will be gathering information to submit a report to the RSPCA in Brighton.

“Anyone with information is urged to come forward.”

The first attack was on November 5 when a cat returned home stabbed near North Laine between 6.20pm and 8.15pm.

Another, Samson, is in hospital after an attacker attempted to disembowel him in a second attack in Ditching Rise on Sunday evening.

Owner Seanin Mouland said: “He appeared at the door and wailed in pain.

“He crawled along the floor injured and tried to drag himself into a wardrobe.

“We stretched him out and could see the clean flesh wound.

The Argus:

“It looked like it has been done with a machete.

“The wound is clear and obvious, it goes through his intestines.

“He is the gentlest of cats.

“It’s disgusting, it shouldn’t be happening.”

The 33-year-old teacher says she is facing a £4,000 vet billl.

She added: “There is a human being behind all this who has clearly suffered, and is still suffering.

“It is our responsibility as a community to consider the wellbeing of all affected.”

There have been multiple reports of cat attacks but the two mentioned are the only ones confirmed.

The charity consults vets before confirming an animal’s injuries were caused by a human.

Anyone with information about the attacks or have CCTV in the area are asked to get in contact with SNARL on 07961 030 064.
