THE frontman of stadium rock band Kasabian is bringing his new exhibit to an art gallery.

Daft-apeth is a project by musician Sergio Pizzorno, lead singer of the Leicester-based outfit.

He is best known for Kasabian’s music, with songs like Shoot the Runner Club Foot and Fire.

In 2014 the band headlined the Glastonbury Festival.

But his new art show, entitled I Wish You’d Touch Me as Much as You Touch Your Phone, will take place at the Whistleblower Gallery, St John’s Road, Brighton.

For the last two years Pizzorno has been working with some of the finest artists in the UK to create a collection pieces.

The project throws “childhood iconography, memories, unarranged thoughts and an absurd sense of humor into a motley mix of vivid enamels, canvasses, sculptures, glory holes, light boxes, prints and merchandise”.

The artist has employed artisan printmakers to produce sets of silkscreen and other hand-crafted editions; used traditional resin casting and mould-making methods to build a collection of neo-retro 80’s cartoon characters

The 38-year-old Pizzorno uses an expansive collection of media to present fragments of random overheard quotes, comic characters and arcade machine and television references, all punctuated by a cunning and playful sense of humour.

Speaking of the exhibition, Pizzorno said: “This is daft-apeth’s head spilled out into an art gallery.”

The Whistleblower Gallery added that working with him and daft-apeth is always “exciting, baffling and incredibly rewarding.”
