A SADISTIC animal hunter who disembowels cats is on the loose according to animal charity Snarl.

On Monday, The Argus reported that two cats had been disembowelled in central Brighton.

Since then, three more owners have come forward to say their pets returned home “crying for help” with their intestines hanging out.

Snarl, the group investigating the UK animal killer, suspect this to be the work of one local person.

Boudicca Rising, founder of the animal rescue charity, said: “This is worse than what we have been investigating.

“These cats are walking home to suffer and it is hideous.”

There have now been five reports made to the charity, who are passing all information to the RSPCA and Sussex Police.

Ms Rising added: “The police need to catch this person really quickly because they’re walking round with a bloody knife.

“People need to report it.

“If your cat cat gets injured, take them straight to the vet.”

Another owner came forward yesterday from Warleigh Road, Brighton.

The owner, who has reported the death of cat Merlin to Snarl, said: “We had to put our cat down as he had exactly the same injuries – a long slice through the stomach.

“He came home, crying for help with his intestines hanging out.

“We and the vet had it down to a freak accident, but we always had suspicions.”

“There is a truly disturbed person out there.

“I am reporting it to the police so something can be done to bring this person to justice.”

Another owner, Seanin Mouland, who said her cat Samson looked like he had been attacked by a machete, has now raised more than £2,500 to cover some of his vet bills.

She said Samson is currently resting and being fed through a drip.

Ms Mouland has written an open letter in an attempt to get the attacker to hand themselves in to police, which you can read here.

A spokeswoman from Sussex Police said: “We understand the impact incidents of this kind can have on those involved.

“We encourage anyone to contact us where they have information and where there are viable lines of enquiry, we will investigate.”

Snarl has laid out a timeline of the suspected attacks:

  • One attack on October 3
  • Two attacks on November 5
  • One attack on November 9
  • One attack on November 18

Anyone with information about the attacks or who has CCTV in the area is asked to get in contact with Snarl on 07961 030 064.

People should also report any suspected mutilations to the police on 101.
