A MOPED rider has been taken to hospital with a serious leg injury after a crash.
The accident happened in Elm Grove at the junction with Queen’s Park Road in Brighton at 6.10am.
One witness said a medical student rushed to the aid of the rider after a collision with a car.
The student reportedly performed a vital tourniquet before the ambulance arrived moments later.
Police said he was taken to hospital while a diversion was put in place.
A motorist who stopped to call the ambulance said: “It was horrible. I’m still shocked. Thankfully someone else stopped as well.

“I was on my way to work and it was very dark, the sun had not come up. There was a silver coloured Ford Ka-type car and a moped.
“The rider was wearing a high-viz reflective vest. He appeared to have been coming up Queen’s Park Road.
“With the injuries he had, he pretty much had to go to hospital, there’s no question about it that he would be sent there.
“A third year medical student stopped and did a tourniquet, she was absolutely amazing. Without going into too much detail, it was not nice. I hope he will be alright.
“The driver of the car seemed a bit in a daze but was cooperative.”
Buses were diverted and Elm Grove was closed up to the junction with Freshfield Road after the incident.
⚠️ Due to RTC in Elm Road, the road is closed and many buses are having to divert. The #BH22 to Woodngdean will be diverting via Union Rd, Edward St, Egremont Rd, Pankhurst Rd, Freshfield Rd to return to normal route at Warren Rd. ⚠️
