SANTA Claus is saving his reindeer for Christmas delivering duties, so he’s decided to take the bus instead.

The Santa Bus is returning to Brighton and Hove for its 15th year.

It began its 20-night-long journey on November 22 and will be travelling around the city each night between 5.30pm and 8.30pm until December 19, visiting 200 streets in the process.

On the final day, it will also make its first ever stop in Peacehaven.

The Santa Bus is the city’s biggest Christmas project and was started by Brighton & Hove Buses, in partnership with The Argus Appeal and Martlets Hospice, to raise funds for local people in need.

The Argus Appeal gives assistance to those in need by providing funds for benefits and causes, in particular helping disadvantaged children, the elderly, people with disabilities and other groups or charities considered to be appropriate by the trustees.

Editor of The Argus newspaper Arron Hendy said: “The Argus Appeal has been working in the city for more than 60 years now and has made a difference to so many people’s lives.

“I hope this year’s Santa Bus can be even more successful in spreading Christmas spirit and raising money so the Argus Appeal and Martlets Hospice can continue helping the people that need it most.”

The Martlets Hospice is a charity that cares for people living with terminal illnesses in and around Brighton and Hove.

Today, it will be in the Saltdean area, starting in Arundel Drive West.

It will continue into Saltdean Vale, go right into Westfield Avenue then bear left into Westfield Avenue North.

Following this, the route moves left into Coombe Vale, right into Tumulus Road, right into Bishopstone Drive, left into Westmeston Avenue and right into Founthill Road.

It follows Founthill Road around to the left into Cranleigh Avenue and finishes at the Marine Drive end.

Tomorrow, the Santa Bus will cover the East Saltdean area, beginning its route in Longridge Avenue then taking a right into Rodmell Avenue, another right into Bannings Vale and a third right into Wicklands Avenue.

It will travel all the way along Wicklands Avenue, finishing at the Greenbank Avenue end.

A list of where to find the Santa Bus on future days can be found on the Brighton and Hove buses website.
