SCOTTISH comedian Kevin Bridges has apologised to fans after he called an early end to his show last night.

Bridges, who was performing the second of his three-day stint at the Brighton Dome on Wednesday night, left the stage sooner than scheduled due to a mixture of heckles and illness.

The comedian has since apologised to the Brighton audience, saying he was “truly sorry”, and has offered all fans in attendance a full refund.

He has added that any money not refunded will be donated to a local homeless charity.

In a statement on his Twitter page, on which he has over one million followers, Bridges said: “My Apologies to everyone who came to see me tonight at The Dome.

“I have been ill for a few days but I didn’t want to cancel the gigs as I felt the adrenaline of performing could carry me through, as it usually does and did tonight for the majority of the show.

“People shouting nonsense throughout the gig is something I’m well used to after 15 years in stand-up but tonight I hit a wall physically and maybe mentally and I’m truly sorry to everyone who I let down by finishing early.

“I’d like to offer everyone their ticket money back and any remaining ticket money will be donated to a local homeless charity.”

Fans who attended the show were quick to jump to the defence of the popular comedian on the social media site.

Twitter user @nicksterrocks10 tweeted Kevin saying: “Don’t let the events of tonight ruin what was an amazing show, in fact, the best stand up show I’ve seen.”

@beaman_will said: “Kev I felt for you mate from 4 rows back. The small minority of twats ruining it for the majority. Chin up and god bless Joseph.”

Another user, @lynseybartlett, last night added: “Big shame Kev. We loved it, but you rest up lovely. You’ll be back on your game tomorrow.”

Last night was the final date of Kevin’s run in Brighton.

Earlier today he followed up his message from last night with a post confirming tonight's show would go ahead as planned and that he was feeling better.

He said: “Thanks for all the messages Brighton folks. Feeling a bit better and tonight’s show @brightdome is on!”

The current tour is Bridges’ biggest to date, and even saw him play an impressive 19 dates at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro earlier in the tour.

Kevin’s current UK tour ends with four dates at Aberdeen’s BHGE Arena, culminating on December 18.
