Police say they have found a body in connection with the search for a missing woman.

Simone Gibson was reported missing on Tuesday from her home in Hampstead Road in Brighton.

The 56-year-old was a keen runner, and her disappearance sparked a search across various sites in the city.

Yesterday officers from the Metropolitan Police were called in to help the search, and were seen searching woodlands at Waterhall, north of the A27.

Police had issued a public appeal, including a CCTV image showing Ms Gibson walking through an underpass at Preston Park Station at 9.17am on Tuesday.

Her husband had reported her missing that evening, after he she had not returned home.

Today, police said they had found a body near the Chattri Memorial, which she was known to enjoy visiting.

It is believed to be the body of Ms Gibson, and her family have been informed.

Police say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, and have informed the coroner.
